Tanya Garg, MA

Training: Tanya completed her undergraduate studies in psychology at University College London (UCL), where she also earned a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Sciences. Currently, Tanya is pursuing a doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology at the University of Rochester.

Clinical Expertise: As part of her master’s program, Tanya worked as an honorary clinical support worker at the Camden and Islington NHS Foundation Trust, where she primarily conducted physical health screenings for patients with severe mental illnesses. She has previously completed a clinical practicum at Genesee Valley Psychology in Rochester, NY, where she received training in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and conducted psychodiagnostic assessments. Tanya has also worked with older adults in research settings, providing problem-solving therapy-based interventions for depression. In addition, she has experience administering standardized trauma-related assessments, and recently earned certification in Mental Health First Aid for adults.

She strives to create a warm, non-judgmental environment in which clients can build on their strengths, understand their challenges, and explore their struggles using evidence-based interventions. Tanya places great importance on building a strong therapeutic relationship, and is committed to understanding each client's lived experience and tailoring treatment to meet them where they are. She aims to equip clients with skills that not only address immediate concerns but also support lifelong growth.

Research: Tanya’s research examines the behavioral, physiological and neural markers of trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in adults.

Preferred Age Groups: Tanya works with both adolescents and adults.
