Training: Dr. Evelyn Meier Lynch earned her undergraduate degree at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She earned her Master’s and Doctorate degrees in Clinical Psychology at American University in Washington, DC. Dr. Lynch completed her pre-doctoral internship at the University of Rochester Medical Center (URMC) and her postdoctoral fellowship at Cognitive Behavioral Consultants, LLP specializing in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), trauma, and research.
Clinical Expertise: Dr. Lynch specializes in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), a comprehensive treatment for adolescents and adults with Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), non-suicidal self-injury, chronic suicidality, complex trauma, and transdiagnostic emotion regulation difficulties. In addition to her work in DBT, Dr. Lynch has extensive training and experience using a range of evidence-based models to treat mood, anxiety, and trauma-related disorders including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Prolonged Exposure (PE), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), and Motivational Interviewing. At GVP, Dr. Lynch provides Comprehensive DBT, CBT for anxiety and depression, and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD).

Research: Dr. Lynch’s research focuses on the intersection between emotion regulation and interpersonal functioning in Borderline Personality Disorder, couples, and families. Additionally, Dr. Lynch is involved in ongoing practice-based research examining treatment effectiveness and mechanisms underlying therapeutic change.
Ages: Dr. Lynch treats Adults and Adolescents as young as 14.
