Casey Améda, PsyD
Training: Dr. Casey Améda earned her doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology from Albizu University in Miami, Florida, and completed her predoctoral internship at Hillside Children's Center through the Rochester Psychology Internship Consortium in Rochester, NY. Dr. Améda will be completing her Postdoctoral Fellowship at Genesee Valley Psychology, specializing in Dialectical Behavior Therapy.
Clinical Expertise: Dr. Améda received clinical training in settings such as community mental health, residential eating disorders centers, and residential treatment facilities. She has worked with various backgrounds and presenting challenges across age groups. Dr. Améda's primary clinical interests include treatment for anxiety, mood disorders, trauma, emotional dysregulation in children and adolescents. She received generalist training and had experience utilizing evidence-based models such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectic Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). She has also done work surrounding school assessment and ADHD.
Diversity and Inclusion: Dr. Améda recognizes the importance of cultural competency, cultural humility, and intersectionality in her practice as a bilingual and multicultural Haitian-American clinician herself. She is committed to maintaining safety and inclusivity within her clinical environment for individuals across diverse groups of identities.
Approach: Dr. Améda strives to build a healthy therapeutic relationship with empathy, curiosity, and compassion while outlining a client's strength. Her therapy approach is informed by evidence-based interventions as well as trauma-informed care and holistic values of the client to help create the most meaningful support that best fits their needs.
